Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is unclaimed or abandoned property?
A: It’s money or property that someone forgot about or left behind — like a bank account, paycheck, or insurance payout — and hasn’t touched or checked on for a year or more. When there’s no activity for a certain amount of time (called the “dormancy period”), the company holding it has to turn it over to the state.

Q: Where are these unclaimed funds or abandoned assets found?
A:  We search through financial records from government offices and big companies across the U.S. to find this forgotten money or property.

Q: What kind of things could I be owed?
A: You might be owed money from things like old bank or retirement accounts, insurance policies, paychecks you never received, tax refunds, mortgage overpayments, investment accounts, or even items left in a safe deposit box. Sometimes it’s even inheritance money, or payments from a Class Action Lawsuit you didn’t know existed.

Q: Where do unclaimed funds come from?
A: Government agencies, courts and large companies across the U.S. hold unclaimed assets.

Q: How Did You Find This Money?
A: We audit many different government agencies on a regular basis for unclaimed funds owed to citizens like yourself.

Q: How Did You Find Me?
A: We usually locate our clients by doing internet searches.

Q: How Much is My Claim? Where is it Being Held?
A: We typically do not process claims totaling less than $5,000 because of the cost in money and time for us to find and process claims for our clients. Once you have signed our contingency fee agreement, we’ll be happy to disclose exactly how much is owed and where the funds have been located.

Q: Can’t I Find the Money on my Own?
A: The governmental agencies we audit typically DO NOT post these unclaimed funds online. You are welcome to search unclaimed funds websites such as www.Unclaimed.org or www.USA.gov/unclaimed-money, but if you find any funds there, these are not the funds we’re informing you about.

Q: How long until I get my money?
A: Typically 3-4 months, depending on the complexity of the case and the speed with which the government acts. We are continually monitoring the process until it is finalized and you have received a check.

Q: How much effort is required from me?
A: Generally about 10 minutes to meet with a local Notary to review and approve our forms—we handle everything else. We even send the Notary to a place that is convenient for you.

Q: How do you know I’m the right person?
A: We thoroughly research public records and confirm details with you before proceeding.

Q: Will my personal information be shared?
A: No, we only use publicly available information and never share your data. Also, we will NEVER ask you for banking or credit information or any other personal information that is not specifically required by the government to process your claim.

Q: Do I have to pay you anything upfront?
A: No. We cover all costs and only get paid when you do.

Q: How does your company get paid?
A: The same way that personal injury lawyers get paid: we work on a contingency fee basis. We are only paid a percentage from the recovered funds—if you don’t get paid, we don’t either.

Q: Is this legal?
A: Yes, our methods have been used for decades. We generally work with a local attorney to process complex claims properly.

Q: How do I receive my money?
A: Generally the attorney handling your case will send you a check from their Trust Bank Account.

Q: What if my claim isn’t approved?
A: That’s very unlikely, but if we don’t recover your funds, you owe us nothing.

Be aware that these funds are held for only a brief period of time, after which the agency responsible for them may be permitted to seize them through a legal process called “escheatment.”

We think private citizens losing their funds to faceless government agencies is completely unfair and we work hard to prevent this from happening to anyone.
